Everybody Meet Hendry

We are extremely excited to introduce Hendry, our new Facility Manager here at Gladstone Aquatic Centre! Hendry has been working at Gladstone for a little while now. Our members will have already seen him in and around the centre.

What is the role of a facility manager?

A facility manager is responsible for the entire operations of a facility.The following are some of the jobs that this role includes:

  • Team Managing
  • Plant Room Maintenance
  • Rostering / Timesheets / Budget Control
  • Implementing Safety Procedures
  • Ensuring all staff are providing the best customer service possible!

We were lucky enough to sit down with Hendry & ask a few questions, here are his answers:

Q: How long have you worked with BlueFit?

A: “I have worked with BlueFit for over 5 years now. I started working for BlueFit when I came over from Scotland to Sydney in 2017. I started as a swim instructor and slowly moved my way up.”

Q: What has been a highlight of your career so far?

A: “I won employee of the year in 2019.”

Q: Tell us a little about yourself professionally…

A: “This is my first facility manager role. I am constantly learning to improve my skills and knowledge to help deliver the best experience for the community.”

Q: This is a big job…how many coffees a day do you drink?

A: “I used to drink 3-4 coffees a day, but I have narrowed that down to 1-2 a day.”

Q: What is your favourite ice cream flavour from our Peters ice cream selection?

A: “My favourite ice cream would have to be the Connoisseur salted caramel.”
