Working Together For A Safe Community Over The Summer

As we approach the warmer summer months, we urge parents to be vigilant while their children enjoy swimming in our public aquatic centres. Whilst BlueFit promotes water safety messages year-round, we are stepping up our efforts over the summer months to raise awareness of the importance of parental supervision in public pools.

It is important that our families understand that although professional lifeguards are on duty as an important safety measure, parental supervision also plays a crucial role in keeping children safe. Supervision of young children at public pools is a shared responsibility between parents and lifeguards. Even if your child is a competent swimmer, parents need to be in close proximity to their children in case they get into difficulty. It is also a condition of entry that children under the age of 6 are within arms reach at all times.

We thank you for your understanding and we look forward to another fun and safe summer!
